I declare that the age of war is over and that soon it will be a memory.
War is now extinct and peace is the new species.
Imagine this. And Invent this with the full force of your soul, your mind, your heart, your voice.

like a prayer*

hello!
hope all is well with everyone!
right now i am listening to the crickets in plymouth, massachusetts!
they are singing back and forth to each other like a conversation.
i wish i could understand what they're saying! maybe they are praying together-
hmm... anyways..
i wanted to write to tell you that we've recorded a version of the song
"like a prayer" by madonna!
it's coming out on a compilation by manimal vinyl and we're very excited about it!
we'll put it up here soon!
we pulled together a great choir for the song including the magnificent abigail chapin of the chapin sisters, the glorious gwendolyn, the incredible heather porcaro and the fabulous carolyn pennypacker of the finches! the song will be available soon for your ears!
i hope that all your prayers are answered!-
i pray for the world to wake up together-
for the new time of harmony to grow fast and strong so that the earth can heal and the
elements can rejoin-

hello everyone,
how's it going?
i hope all is well!
i hope everyone is having a beautiful day!
sorry if i was too mean on saturday-
i feel like the volume has been turned up on my sensitivity-
i've been so angry & feeling oppression in the world- so angry!
but still the relationship to love is the only bond that grows-
all other bonds weaken-
we must strengthen the bonds of love!
we must also change our relationship to nature!
the elements are coming unbound!
the weather is coming apart! coming undone!
let's really start cooperating --
let's make a list of all the things to do, perfect ways to live in harmony with nature-

i don't mean to ramble on!
oh- but- today i sang with inara george and eleni mandell at the theatricum botanicum theater in topanga canyon! wow that place is beautiful!
inara organized a tribute to bessie smith, o bessie smith-
what a wonderful treasury of songs!
we sang this one called "good ole wagon"-- i'll have to put up a video clip!
oh! speaking of which!
someone made an amazing video for open your heart!!!!

arthur magazine is up and running and i gave an interview in there!
i think arthur will be out on the streets in a few days!

Findhorn Garden!

Hey you people!
has anyone ever heard of the Findhorn Garden in Scotland?
Amazing! Very inspiring story and place!
These people grew a garden that defied possibility because they were
working together with the intelligence of nature!
And now the Findhorn foundation is the home to the
global eco-village network, a part of the united nations that
connects people all over the world who are building ecological communites!
there's an eco-village here in los angeles! in koreatown-
amazing! more on the LA eco-village later-
one day i would like to start an eco-village that is a template for urban river water usage.
I'll have to write more about this later but for now I just wanted to say:

Official Goodbye Letter from Jeff

Dear friends, family, and fans,

I would like to express my gratitude and love to all of you out there by sending this farewell note.

I am writing to inform you personally that I have left Lavender Diamond. I am still really excited about the release of the album we all worked so hard on. I wish nothing but the best for the band in the future, and want to thank *you*, the fans, for listening and singing and being there.

The band is on the road right now and could use all of your support, with Devon Williams filling in on guitar duties on tour.

My immediate plans are to make music with my family at home, which may or may not include singing "Wheels on the Bus" over and over again.

So,
today is already spring and we are home again, wherever that it is. Los Angeles is our home although really we feel an allegiance to the planet more than anything. We feel compelled to express gratitude above all. We can't possibly imagine how things could be more beautiful. Well, I guess we can imagine how things could get better. So let's imagine together- how things could get better--
1. End to all war. All wars on earth cease. This is a spontaneous act. Of course, it's a long time coming. We recognize that every moment of war is creating unspeakable horror. So we ask and pray that all wars cease forever now.
2. Friendship between all people. This is hard to imagine but easy to imagine at the same time. How everyone could feel love for each other and the world would become an infinitely interesting place. But it already is! Imagine if everyone was your friend- what a world of celebration it would be!
3. Peace with the earth. An end to terracide. This will be amazing!! When humanity recognizes earth and all life as equal! Destroying the earth for profit will be a memory! Exploitation of earth will be considered suicide-- and these ways will be lost in history--
4. Love is the unlimited source. Soon we disconnect our energy from fear and reconnect with love. Fear is a concept that is limited- like war and degradation. These are ideas and practices based on separation. The infinite source is celebration-- communal and unknown. Solar and wind-powered.

Please feel free to share your visions for a peaceful future! Imagination is the key!

home again

hello friends,
i hope you are safe and sound and feeling well. we are home again after our long and thrilling trip to europe! it was such a beautiful feeling to see so many new friends and new places.
Each place felt like home. Thank you so much to all the new friends and beautiful places.
It was so much fun traveling with the decemberists. They are such wonderful and generous people and we learned so much from them. Infinite thanks to the decemberists!
And we were lucky enough to travel with an ace sound engineer, John Taylor from Manchester. A million thanks to John!
And thanks to Josh our tour manager who planned a brilliant trip for us on trains!! Poor josh had to go to the hospital in Munich, he was so sick with the flu. But luckily he's bounced back and we are so thankful that he is alright!
Every show was such an extreme learning experience, especially Shepard's Bush Empire in London which was quite a challenge. Playing big places it is new to me to know how to sing with a loud sound system. Often I can't hear anything onstage when i'm singing because it's so loud, it's very weird. The sound engineer in Vienna told me about a kind of traditional indian singing where you learn to hear in your bones, with your ears blocked. Hearing in the bones! Sounds great to me.
I can't wait to come back to europe. can't wait. i'm going to have to make a full report later about every single city. Each one was so different and wonderful. And soon we'll post photos and videos from our trip!
Coming back to our home in Los Angeles feels bittersweet! i wish we could travel to every city and tour forever. We want to especially thank Rough Trade for being so supportive. We are truly lucky!
Soon we'll do more touring. I can't wait! Next week we're going to New York to play a special concert in New York. And tomorrow we'll play at the new store Family in Los Angeles.
May everyone feel surrounded by the love of home wherever you are!

the bright faces of nottingham

hello dear friends,
wow! i am writing here from nottingham! tonight we played at the university here and the faces of the crowd were so bright!!! i've never seen such bright faces! what an incredible adventure we are having. today is the 3rd show of our tour with the decemberists and i am thrilled to report that we are having the time of our lives!! wow. we are travelling by train!
first off, i want to say that our time is glasgow was lovely! glasgow is full of people of the sweetest character i've ever met. i felt that people were listening with such sensitivity! amazing. and the train station there is so gorgeous. and i met a blind man on the train to manchester who is a reiki master. oh- i guess i should explain what that is. reiki is a healing art that works by channeling love energy into a person's body. this man was so funny, he told me that he and his with had become reiki masters over the internet. amazing. he had a beautiful guide dog, a black dog named theo. oh! speaking of love, there is something important to tell you! but first--
our show in manchester was amazing! manchester is the secret heart of the world- that's all i can say. and tonight we playing in nottingham, and i swear that the people of nottingham all seemed to have the brightest faces.- oh so- i had a realization today about the nature of love! very important-- sometimes we talk about love energies- but what i realized today is that love is energy. energy is love. love is energy. energy is love.

oh! there's some incredibly important news to tell! this is going to be a very long message! i'll have to start writing more often so that the messages don't need to be so long-
first of all--
we have officially signed up with matador records! hooray! they will be releasing our record in the north america, mexico, australia and new zealand! oh my goodness! what a dream come true. these are the most intelligent people i have ever met. a full meditation on matador records is to follow!!
alright- also- today we recorded a live session at the bbc! i'll have to write more about that later because i'm awfully tired-- today we had 4 radio interviews- 2 radio performances and a live show! and the first half of the day was in london and the 2nd half was in nottingham! and we nearly missed our train and had to run across the station! we made it by 1 minute!
so i really must go to bed- oh! one more thing! tomorrow we play at shephard's bush empire in london!! i am so excited i can hardly sleep except that i am so tired and looking forward to dreaming. that reminds me that i also have to issue a full report on some incredibly beautiful dreams i've had lately! one last thing-
before you go to bed, you can ask for guidance in your dreams and it will come to you- try it- it will sometimes come in very gorgeous visions-

Hello Children of Peace!

Dear children and everybody,
Hello! Happy season of darkest darkness! I hope you are dancing and eating and giving and receiving! It is very beautiful here in Los Angeles, the lights are shining brightly in the nighttime. Guess what! I am happy to report that we are finishing up our record! This has been the most amazing time ever and we can't wait to share this with you, the world, ourselves. A few things I'd like to report:
1) the day after finishing singing this record i completely and totally lost my voice! this has never happened to me, and it was not from strain- i think it is because my voice was totally transferred and now it is living in that recording. I just hope I get it back. Apparently marshmellow (extract)is a cure for disappeared voices, but seriously, if anyone finds my voice then please-- tell me where it is. for now it is a mystery.
2) i bought myself a magic wand for christmas. it's pink and has a red heart that lights up and it plays a magic spell sound when you wave it. i know it was made in china by slave children and it is horrible to buy anything new, isn't it? well, we'll have to have another discussion on buying things. but i just wanted to confess that i bought myself a magic wand for christmas. and when we go on tour to europe this winter i can wave it because i won't be able to talk so i'll just wave my wand. that was ron's idea to wave the wand in europe. hopefuly i'll have my voice back by then but i won't know how to tell stories in french or german-- which reminds me!!--- Hey! we are going on tour this winter in europe with the decemberists! and for this tour i am going to have to learn how to say "congratulations for peace coming to planet earth" in german and french. anyone out there who wants to send along translations please do so- i'll be practicing the new languages from now until then-- and our tour dates will go up soon!

Well children, remember- true love is just a heartbeat away- oh! here it is! Filling us all up with the most delicious strength! Good work everyone! Remember- earth is the most beautiful planet so don't forget to laugh at the sunsets ( at how beautiful they are)

Hello Friends~

We hope that you are all feeling well and that you are making sure to slow way down. Slowing down is the best way to get to the center, Try it!
So- in the spirit of slow motion, we would like to announce that we have arrived, in just perfect time, directly in the heart and center of our wildest dreams! That's right! We have Officially signed up with Rough Trade Records for the United Kingdom, Europe, South America and Asia!! Our ep will be re-released in January and our new record will be out in the spring! We are thrilled to pieces with this and could not possibly be happier, it is true love for sure.
And love takes time, that's right, so remember- slow down to get to the center! But not too slow- this world needs you! Just take your time, though, you crazy people- take your time! Stop rushing around! Slow down!!

Home again, home again!

well, back home in los angeles after wild travels! our tour with the decemberists was like the first time you ever saw the snow fall. our thanks to these wonderful people for bringing us with them to so many beautiful places and to so many beautiful faces! we hope we didn't offend anyone with our songs- we're only trying to help! i'm so happy to be home in los angeles but also can't wait for more travelling and touring! all the people are so inspiring! i can't wait to go back to san francisco (!), portland (!), tuscon (!), austin (!), atlanta (!), dallas (!), new orleans (!), d.c. (!), northampton (!), philadelphia (!), and new york!! those are all the places we went this time and i can't wait to go to new places, too! i'm looking forward to a lot of touring! especially with the record coming out this year! thanks to so many brilliant souls, and the feeling of love that shook the halls! can't wait to see you sooooon!
